It has been 3 days since my husband returned from deployment.
Our morning began EARLY! The alarm went off at 4 a.m., by 5:15 a.m. we were on the road.
To my surprise and dismay, my youngest, Aiden did not fall back to sleep like I was thinking he would. Instead, he stayed up and was BURSTING with energy.
I met up with my new friend Lauren at the pier so that we could await our husbands' arrival together.
We waited for the sun to come up and warm the frigid air before walking out to find a spot on the pier.
What were we thinking? Maybe our excitement clouded our thought process? We actually believed that it was going to be easy trying to keep our kids occupied for what would be the next 6 to 7 hours on a pier surrounded with water and filled with nearly 20,000 people.
Needless to say, we were wrong. Poor Lauren, she had to wait in the crowd longer than anyone. Her husband had duty! When I left her to meet Jeff she was sitting in a crowd holding her baby boy while he slept. It made me feel miserable.
-----
After our initial hugs, kisses and hello's, we started our journey back through the crowds of people still waiting for their sailors. It took FOREVER, or so it seemed.
Since being home, it has been interesting.
Aiden hasn't forgotten Jeff at all. He is just as comfortable with him as he is with me. (Prayer Answered)
Gabby unravelled as soon as she saw him. Her hard exterior broke and fell. She cried and was so happy to see him. She has cried every night since because she can't sleep with daddy. (This also makes me feel miserable.)
Kaitlynn and Gabby have been butting heads competing for daddy's attention. I just keep trying to remind them that daddy isn't going anywhere.
It is starting to get better.
I have lost all my anxieties about our reunion and I am feeling complete once again.
I love that man.
Thank you all who have been praying for our sailor.
Our reunion has been amazing and we are adjusting back into a "normal" lifestyle once again.
